Follow Up...

Luke had a great week of appointments last week! We met with the new speech therapist last week, and I just know she is going to be great for Luke. She really feels there is no reason he should not be talking other than his muscles are very weak, and it is a lot of work for him to do it. He has gotten into some very bad habits and just does not want to work to get this words out. She wrote in her evaluation that the prognosis is very good for improved speech, language, and cognition. She told me yesterday that she would really like to see Luke for two hours at a time instead of one so he will be seeing her for four hours a week. Then, she sends him home with "homework" to work on. He really likes her too. The only downside is it is an hour drive from our house, but if it means he is talking it will be worth it. She did tell us it will be a slow process, but in the end it will all be worth it.

Then on Wednesday we met with the NACD from Utah. Mr. Doman was very thrilled with Luke's increased strength, focus, reaction time, so that was a great visit too.

On top of all this we started a new therapy called Chronologically Controlled Developmental Therapy. Luke seems to really like it. We will give it a few months to see if we are noticing any changes. You can read more about it here: http://www.futuresunlimited.com/tbi.html

You can probably guess Luke's days are packed with therapy. Please pray we continue to see improvements. Another huge prayer request, I have contacted the school to get the ball rolling for Luke to start out back in July. Please pray he gets where he needs to be to continue to improve the most. If anyone has any suggestions here please let me know! Thanks for continuing to follow Luke's journey!

It sure sounds like things keep improving for Luke. You got some wonderful and encouraging news. I will be checking out that website. I will do my best with the school prayers ~ you'd think we'd have some good connections for that!!!
Love & hugs,
Nancy
