On the Move!

Luke continues to amaze us with the strides he is making. On recommendation from the NACD, we ordered Luke a recumbent bike off Amazon.com. He loves to ride it. It is really good for him. I only wish it weren't 110 degrees because there is only a short window of day that it is not too hot for him to ride. He continues to do his "scooting" to get somewhere, little Lacey is a big motivator for him, he loves to come and hold her. Things have been going well at the Neuro Institute for Therapy. I think they are starting to see what Luke is capable of. This week they had him up and walking, and have been doing some great things with lefty. Luke is starting to bear weight on this hand when sitting down...huge step in the right direction. The countdown is also on for our next trip to Napa. We leave a week from Sunday...pray for great things to happen during the 3 weeks we are there. Luke also has an MRI in the morning to check the aneurysm and shunt...please pray for positive things here also. We appreciate all your prayers and support so much!!! Here are some pics of what Luke has been doing:

Giving the thumbs- up he wants to scoot.

Testing out his new bike after dad put it together...doesn't he look great on it!

Working lefty in therapy.

Walking with the walker in therapy.

Wow Luke... cool bike - love it! You sure look great! What great trunk stability sitting there. I am so happy you are having a better week! Keep it up! By the way....You are sure looking taller and more grown up young man! Keep up all that hard work ... things are looking up for sure! Good luck at the NAPA center - go get em!

All these pictures are making me cry tears of joy. Luke looks absolutely amazing! I can't believe it is almost time for you to leave for NAPA again. The prayers still continue to come your way. I hope the MRI went well. Have a safe trip!

Hey Gauman Family,

Stacey, I know it is hard, the split family. BUT you will get through it. I know it is so hard with Lynsey back in school. I remember feeling like I missed so much for Libby while we were down in Cincinnati with Sophie. I don't know if you have someone with you and Lacey as well. My mom came down and stayed at RMH with Teddy so I could see him.

I understand it is frustrating imagining what might have been for Luke (starting the 4th grade under normal circumstances). We can ask "Why?" or think about "What if's" all day long. The important thing that you have held on to and need to still hold on to is simple: Luke, You, Mike, Lynsey, Lacey, all of us, are exactly where God meant for us to be during each moment of our lives.

I was just reading a book by Max Lucado. Romans 11:36 "Everything comes from God alone. Everything lives by His power, and everything is for His glory."

Surely you know, Stacey, that you all have and continue to bring Glory to God throughout Luke's journey. What an amazing testament to His power and grace that Luke has come so far when, originally, he wasn't even expected to be alive today.

Your journey, uncovering alternate therapies and treatment options, may very well have given hope to other families that aren't as resourceful as you are.

So know that this journey you are all on is for His purpose. You are giving hope to those who may need it, inspiration to those who have become stuck in a rut and glory to God.

Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
