Happy Mother's Day

Luke continues to do good. I keep saying as long as we are seeing improvement no matter now small we think they may be, we are on the right track. I talked to someone earlier this week who told me that usually when you think nothing is happening, that is when the most is happening in Luke's brain, so I am going with that! This week for the first time he did a double roll, rollled over from tummy to back, then back to tummy. He is also trying SO hard to try and get up on all fours. He is so close I think! I have also gotten him to sit up for 4 minutes at a time. I had a call earlier this week with the lady overseeing the speech program we are doing at home. She really feels like he is on the right track. Some of the stuff we have been doing is blowing a horn, making m sounds, trying to get a d sound, right now he does the motion but no sound, and working on chewing. Another exciting thing, is in addition to horse therapy (this week they even had the horse trot with him on it,) his physical therapist is going to start seeing him another day at our house to work with them. I think this will really help him out. I have to say, after re-reading my post from last Mother's Day we are in a much better place! Last year, all I wanted was to hear his voice...this year while he is not talking with us, he is able to communicate with us in many different ways. My favorite being when he will squeeze your hand 3 times to say, "I Love You." He also gives the greatest hugs with a few pats thrown in. So please continue prayers of healing and restoration in Luke's brain. Thanks for the prayers also for my grandpa...he is doing a little better every day. Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms reading this who encourage me everyday with your emails, cards, everything! We couldn't have made this journey without you, and the fact of the matter is Mr. Luke would not be alive and progressing so much if not for your prayers! "As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you..." Isaiah 66:13

Stacey, I would like to award you with the "Mom of the Year Award". Luke has made a lot of his progress because of your unrelenting dedication to his recovery. The hours you spend working with him every day has gotten him where he is today. It is hard work for both you and Luke, and you have tackled it with love and caring that gives Luke the courage to keep up the hard work.
And all the while, you have been a great Mom to Lynsey. Every little girl should be so blessed to have a Mom like you.
Thanks for showing us all how strong a Mother's love is and what that strength can accomplish.
You are loved and admired by so many. I hope you feel that today and every day.

I pray for a faith like yours. When I first saw Luke that fateful day, I'll admit that I predicted a tragic story playing out. I read your updates many days with a tear in my eye, uplifted by this ongoing tale of struggle, hope, and faith. I know that one day very soon I will be shaking Luke's hand and thanking him for showing me -- all of us -- what strength really is. Thank God he has such an example as his family. Happy Mother's day.
