Making Progress

Well the word from Luke's OT yesterday was, "This kid is making progress!" She told me she is very pleased with his progress, especially his sitting up! So that is great news! Go Luke! Due to the Swine Flu outbreak, we have decided against going for Stem Cells right now, and are postponing it until mid-June. Pray the Swine Flu is gone by then! We picked up Luke's new glasses this week. He hates to wear them and when we ask if he can see better he tells us no! We'll see how this works out. That's about all for now...greater things are yet to come!

Another great week!

Luke's week last week ended with his therapist calling me to tell me he had the best week of horse therapy ever! Go Luke! Just in time because horse therapy will be ending when we get the stem cells (not to mention it will be too hot outside.) I am trying to find Luke Aqua Therapy for the summer if anyone happens to know someone that does it (at an indoor place.)

Luke continues to get better and better at sitting up. He sat up for an entire episode of Sponge Bob the other day. Right now he is sitting up while throwing a ball back and forth to Mike. Good things keep happening...better up than down...believe.

Here is a video of Luke playing hockey last week with his wonderful therapist! Sorry for the poor video skills!

Therapy!

Luke has worked so hard in therapy this week. So far he has had OT and PT, and tomorrow horse therapy. Next week he will start getting OT twice a week also. He has great therapists that are really pushing him. Luke was excited because today his OT worked with him in his room, which we have kind of turned into a therapy room. He just loves to go in there and "play." In PT, he is working on walking, bending down while standing up, going from sit to stand. He loves to hit the hockey stick. I hadn't seen him do it yet, but was excited at how well he did. I tried to get a video but my memory card was full. In OT, he had a great day today, he was using lefty to play tic-tac-toe. He also been practicing drawing lines, sorting objects, and sitting up. He is doing great. We have tentatively set May 7th for another round of stem cells. Thanks for your continued prayers...believe!

Happy Easter!

Today I took Lynsey and her friend to see the new "Hannah Montana" movie. It was really cute. One song in the movie really spoke to me and everything we have endured the last few years with Luke. The song is called, "The Climb," and I put the lyrics to it below. I love what it says about there's always gonna be another mountain. I think that is true in everyone's life. A friend sent me this verse earlier this week, Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish it's work so that you may mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4

Just like the lyrics say, "It ain't about how fast we get there.." We have been told from the beginning that Luke's recovery will be a marathon not a sprint. That has certainly been the case, yet he continues to do new things. Just this week he is starting to rotate his hips more and also help a lot more to pull himself up to a sitting position when laying on the floor. I know to most of you this seems like such a simple task, but to Luke's recovery every simple task is HUGE when it leads up to a big task. So we give Praise God for continue to heal our son!
Mike and I are committed to doing everything we can and within God's will to advance Luke's recovery as much as possible. We know that only God knows what will happen to Luke, and I have to remember that His plan is always perfect! One thing we would like prayers on is Stem Cells as it is time to decide whether or not to do another round before he goes to therapy in LA in June.

I hope each of you has a blessed Easter weekend. As I reflect on the many mountains Jesus had to climb in his short Earthly life, I am in awe.
We have so much to be thankful for and we thank the Lord, for His sacrifice for us and the Promise of Hope.. Happy Easter...He is Risen...Hallelujah! Believe!

The Climb
I can almost see it
That dream I'm dreaming but
There's a voice inside my head sayin,
You'll never reach it,
Every step I'm taking,
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking but I
Got to keep trying
Got to keep my head held high

There's always going to be another mountain
I'm always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes I'm gonna to have to lose,
Ain't about how fast I get there,
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

The struggles I'm facing,
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down but
No I'm not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm going to remember most yeah
Just got to keep going
And I,
I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on, cause

There's always going to be another mountain
I'm always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes I'm gonna to have to lose,
Ain't about how fast I get there,
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb (yeah)

There's always going to be another mountain
I'm always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes you going to have to lose,
Ain't about how fast I get there,
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb (yeah yeah ea ea)

Keep on moving
Keep climbing
Keep the faith baby
It's all about
It's all about
The climb
Keep the faith
Keep your faith
